Cranberries

Cranberry is valued not only for its bright acidity and unmistakable red colour, but also for its complex polyphenol profile. Scientific reviews describe cranberries as containing phenolic acids, anthocyanins, flavonoids and, notably, proanthocyanidins — a group of plant compounds that has made the berry a major subject of nutritional research. For xdose, cranberry is especially useful in dark-berry formulations because it brings sharpness and freshness that can balance deeper, more astringent berries such as aronia and blackcurrant. The result is not simply “mixed berry” flavour. Each berry contributes a different sensory and phytochemical character, which is why we prefer purposeful combinations rather than relying on a single fruit. Cranberry is one part of what we think of as a Northern superberry approach: real berries, real intensity and a formula built around their natural character.
